Comparing the Amazon to the Oceans.

The biggest difference I believe between the Amazon River and the Ocean is how clean they are. I mean, the Amazon river is so full of sediment that you cannot even see through it most of the time. That is why it is the perfect place for all the dangerous creatures that live there like paranas, alligators, and ANACONDAS! :( scaarrrrry. The reason it is so full of sediment is from all the rains that the forest gets washes all of the dirt and mud into the river and the currents are so strong that it just sends it all through making a murky mess. I feel like the ocean is much cleaner and has nicer animals than that of the Amazon River. :) :) :)

Tides Worksheet Question

The moon effects tides because of the gravitational pull of the Earth. When the moon pulls, it pulls the water in or out. The place I choose to visit is the Pensacola Bay Entrance starting on June 1, 2011. It is a high tide at 7:18 a.m. and a low tide at 6:27 p.m. The moon during this is 80% visible. These are all productions of what SHOULD happen. People need to know when tides are so they can stay safe and actually get to see the things they are going there for so they wont be dissapointed. Mainly I think safety would be the biggest concern.

Sea Turtles: Blue Planet Shores

Sea Turtles use the shore mostly for breeding. When they are about to lay the eggs, the cute female turtles go on up to the sandy shore and lay those eggs. :))) Then the baby turtles hatch out of their eggs and take off fast toward the ocean! All the birds try eating them and most of them don't survive :((( but the ones that do live are adorable :D
...and that is what the turtles use the shore for! :)

Why do we study ocean waves?

We study ocean waves because it helps us be aware of tsunamis. People can use this information to be aware of what to do in case of a tsunami that way they will be safe. It could save their lives. A person living in hawaii could use this info to stay safe.

The Coral and the Fish :)

The coral provides nutrients and shelter for many different types of fish and things. The fish provide protection to the coral by fighting off predators. One thing the fish do that is bad though is that they sometime munch on the coral. ;)

World Currents

The currents in the ocean are wind driven currents. That means the current is produced by wind blowing over the surface. The heat from the sun is waaaay strong by the Equator which is why the currents there are hot. By the poles, its much colder and that is why the currents there are cold. All of this is what sets up a wind pattern from wind traveling from equator to the poles. :)

Blue Panet: The Deep

There are 3 place in the ocean where different types of animals live.

The top one is Euphotic meaning there is alot of light. An animal that lives there is a dolphin. It is a mammal and mostly eats fish and squid. They are friendly and one of the most intelligent animals.

The next layer is Disphotic which has not alot of light. One fish there is the hatchet fish. The hatchet fish gets its name from the distinct shape of it's thin body. They create their own light by a process called bioluminescence. It is a chemical reaction sorta the same as what a fire fly does on land.

The last layer is the aphotic where there is no light. Here you can find deep sea jellies, transparent squids, or gigantociprus. Deep sea jellies use glowing red lures to catch fish. They are also bioluminst. It is really cool how they glow.
